1. Game Rules

Rock Paper Scissors follows the standard rules:

  • Rock crushes Scissors
  • Scissors cut Paper
  • Paper covers Rock

Approved Hand Signals

Only the following hand signs are allowed:

  • ROCK – Closed fist
  • PAPER – Flat open hand
  • SCISSORS – Index and middle fingers extended in a “V”

No additional items (dynamite, boa, gestures, props, or variations) are permitted.

Throw Procedure

  • Players will throw on “SHOOT” (“Rock–Paper–Scissors–Shoot”).
  • Both players must reveal their sign simultaneously on “SHOOT.”
  • Early throws or hesitation will result in a loss of the round.
  • Throws must be clear and fully formed. Half-open fingers or unclear signs will be ruled a loss.

There are no rematches due to player error. Judges will rule in favor of the player following the rules as stated.

2. Ties

  • If both players throw the same sign, the round is a tie.
  • Tied rounds are replayed immediately.

3. Tournament Structure

Group Stage

  • Participants are randomly assigned to 1 of 8 groups.
  • Each group has a maximum of 16 participants.
  • Players receive a group number (1–8) at registration

Matches

  • Players are paired within their group.
  • Each match is best out of 3 rounds.
  • First player to win 2 rounds wins the match.
  • Winning players stay standing and advance..
  • Non-winning players sits down and becomes part of the cheering section.
  • If an uneven number of players, one of our non-winning players will be asked to compete again if necessary.

This continues until one winner remains in each group.

4. Group Winners & Prizes

  • One top winner from each of the 8 groups advances to the Finals.
  • Top winners from each group receive a $100 Gift Card to The Centre Mall.

5. Finals & Playoffs

Quarterfinals

  • The 8 finalists are randomly paired.
  • Matches are best out of 5 rounds (first to win 3 rounds).

Semifinals

  • The remaining 4 finalists are randomly paired.
  • Matches are best out of 5 rounds (first to win 3 rounds).

Championship Match

  • The final 2 players compete in a best out of 7 rounds.
  • First player to win 4 rounds is the Champion.

6. Judging & Referee Authority

  • All judgment calls (timing, visibility, fouls, ties) are made immediately by the referee.
  • Players may ask for clarification but may not challenge a call.
  • All referee decisions are final.

7. Sportsmanship Policy

  • Players must behave respectfully at all times.
  • Excessive trash talk, insults, intimidation, or unsportsmanlike conduct is not allowed.
  • Referees may issue warnings or remove players for misconduct.


The tournament organizers may update these rules as needed without prior notice.  All organizer decisions are made with the best interest of the event in mind and are final.
